I must say I have seen a few professional photographers butcher their images LOL.
Cheers,
PaulBeyond the obvioushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00698822210164295613noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11477449.post-38555868772862218782007-09-10T21:33:00.000+00:002007-09-10T21:33:00.000+00:00Excellent post and so very true. He was offering his services for weddings and getting business too.

I never saw the results of his efforts but his motiviation for becoming a "professional" photographer was that there was no money in the butchery trade! God help his clients.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11477449.post-92139756904791805112007-09-09T13:01:00.000+00:002007-09-09T13:01:00.000+00:00Hi! But it took me a few years and a good part of this road from amateur to professional to realize it. These automatic digital SLRs are both a blessing and a curse, and these photo sharing sites are almost a 100% curse. I am a journalist who used to take shots from my early youth and suddenly people started to commission the works - only then I understood that I know nothing about the basics.
I've gone through a small part of your photos on Photopoints and I am planning to read your blog, I believe many interesting ideas are waiting for me there.
Best, MaximMaxim Reiderhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12708281441543573731noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-11477449.post-86036432817315854752007-08-31T12:11:00.000+00:002007-08-31T12:11:00.000+00:00"Do you think you could get the same result, not j..."Do you think you could get the same result, not just once in a while but every working day?"

Indeed, that is the crux of the matter. If you spend a week not getting any useful images it doesn't matter if you are an amateur but it can be make or break for a pro!

On top of the points you make Paul, it is also worth noting that you also have to run a business. Which means getting the work in, dealing with customers, cashflows, bank managers, etc - if you don't get that right you might not even get a chance to show how good you are with the camera.

Thought provoking stuff.Chris Shepherdhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07477371787636884460noreply@blogger.com
